Also the very famous Loose Elastic perform here--try to catch a rendition of Delila -It brings the house down-   sort of sing a round in the back room . Relaxed and informal and sometimes quite jolly- how dare you-we all know  this is meant to be a  serious business! The beers very good  as well.

Very full last time I went and a really good evening, I didn't see Delila though

On the second and fourth  Wed of every month   We meet in the Red Bull on Hillgate in Stockport for an open session.  It's  a tunes session . We play a mix of English and Celtic and hopefully more English than the rest but it does vary.   There usually me Peter Hood fighting the tenor banjo with Lynda Edwardes  on concertina and Fran who knows loads of tunes but pretends she doesn't on tin whistle. Bill the Fiddle, Tom Mather on Hammered dulcimer.  The evening really starts to buzz when guitar legend Bill Philipps  helps out with  Beryl  on concertina.  - lots of others drop in and out... so join us !

A workshop every  1st  Friday of the month - It varies from English folk tunes to Applacian clog to Purcells folk tunes. All tunes, no singing and a different theme each month. Sheet music provided . Very friendly bunch of folks    ,  It's better if you have at least a minimal sight reading ability. You can get by without though!! A very nice library of English tunes available to members, strongly recommended especially if you feel intimidated in the std pub session. The Alma, Cottonstones is an old farmers pub overlooking the Ryburn
Valley. The session is an all-comers opportunity to play tunes, sing a song,
recite a poem or monologue, clog dance, step dance or just listen. The Sunday session- (3rd Sunday of each month)  A Sunday day out recommendation, It's up in the hills out beyond East Manchester but is worth the trip! More in the website , and it's worth a look --It can move dates occasionally so you best check before setting out.
